⅓ of our lives are spent at work. Waking up at 5am and commuting to a regular 9 to 5 job (or two) are the reality that many find themselves faced with in their lifetime. With the countless hours that we give towards labouring in our lives, wouldn't it make sense for people to find a job that doesn't involve them wishing they could trade it for 5 more hours left undisturbed in bed every Monday morning? Here are 4 reasons why you should choose a job that you love, not tolerate.

It's all about the fulfillment

Working for something that provides value to you is important. Working for a job that provides no value is basically living through an endless unrequited relationship. That is, you pour effort into your work but it provides you with a pat on the shoulder and a soulless monthly paycheck. When you find a job you love, the work you put in comes back to you in many forms. For some it could be seeing your creation come to life, for others it could be the happy smile on their clients face. Find a job that pays you back in your heart (and preferably in your wallet too).

Waking up to an unwanted alarm sucks, waking up to an unwanted alarm to go to an undesirable job is even worse. Picking a job that does not leave you plotting how to utilize every single last one of your sick and vacation days should not be an arbitrary concept. By finding a job that makes you feel happy by clocking in, you are one step closer to inner peace, and life satisfaction.

Your work flows naturally

When you don't have it, the threat of overtime leaves you no choice but to forcefully wring it out and no one wants to come out of work feeling like a wrinkled shirt. By choosing a job that takes into consideration your personality, interests and strengths, you will most likely find a work environment that is able to boost your creativity and motivation to be a productive employee so that your work flows naturally out from your mind and into the world.

You do work because you want to, not because you have to

The last reason you should choose a job you love is because it makes you want to do the work because you want to and not because you have to. Finding a special niche wherein the work generally interests you is important. How about this, ask yourself; would I do this work for free if I had a chance? If the answer leans more towards yes, then maybe, just maybe that job is something you will be willing to pursue for personal fulfillment. This means you are on the right track to choosing something you want to do, not something you have to do.
